 [FlyingHost](https://flyinghost.com/) is one of those rare WordPress hosting services that made me reconsider what I thought a properly optimized hosting environment could deliver. ## FlyingHost Has Changed My Expectations of WordPress Hosting

I’ve spent plenty of time working with WordPress hosting, optimization plugins, VPS configurations and custom server setups, so it takes quite a bit to genuinely surprise me. FlyingHost managed to do exactly that. It’s built by the same team behind FlyingPress, and anyone familiar with my previous experiences with FlyingPress will know that I’ve followed Gijo Varghese and his work for years. We’ve discussed WordPress performance and optimization plenty of times along the way, and I’m fortunate enough to call him a friend.

That personal connection doesn’t make me less critical when testing something. If anything, it gives me even more reason to throw difficult situations at a new product instead of treating it gently. My short version is therefore wonderfully uncomplicated: give FlyingHost a test. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. ## My First FlyingHost Tests Put an Optimized VPS to the Test

I was invited to start testing FlyingHost recently and jumped at the opportunity immediately. My first approach was deliberately simple. I took two relatively small domains and ran them alongside the same websites on my existing VPS configuration. Calling those websites simple would be slightly misleading, though. They use custom folders and paths, special WordPress constants and custom React and Vue functionality behind the scenes. My VPS wasn’t some forgotten shared-hosting account either. I had configured it around Redis, HTTP/3, Nginx and PHP-FPM, and I was perfectly happy with its performance.

Then FlyingHost came along and made that setup look rather ordinary. That’s a painful thing to admit when you’ve spent time tuning a server yourself, but numbers don’t care about your pride. The difference was strong enough that I connected those domains properly and started treating FlyingHost as a potential production environment instead of an interesting technical experiment.

### WooCommerce and Elementor Revealed Where FlyingHost Really Shines

Small websites can only tell you so much, so the next logical move was to make life considerably harder for the server. I work at an agency, and I also have a personal WordPress test installation that is perfectly suited to causing trouble. I bulk-added several thousand WooCommerce products, while the installation already contained plenty of custom code that I’m developing. It also runs Elementor. I should probably confess that I’m not exactly Elementor’s biggest cheerleader. Page builders in general aren’t my favorite way to build websites, but Elementor is widely used in real businesses, including at our agency, which makes it an excellent practical workload.

On our shared hosting environment, the installation could struggle noticeably with heavy operations and dynamic admin requests. FlyingHost reacted more like somebody had politely asked it to pick up a newspaper. During my testing, admin-ajax add-to-cart requests landed around 100 to 200ms, the WooCommerce product overview loaded in roughly a second, and Elementor commonly opened in approximately 1 to 1.5 seconds. Those are my own test results rather than a promise of what every website will achieve, but they certainly got my attention.

### Moving a 70GB WordPress Site Was the Test That Really Mattered

The point where FlyingHost went from “this is seriously impressive” to “I might actually replace my VPS” came when I migrated my largest website. This isn’t a neat little five-page company website with a tiny database. The installation is more than 70GB, contains 10 custom post types, over 60,000 published items, approximately 42,000 drafts and around 48,000 published comments. Its database alone is roughly 12GB. On top of that, it runs WPML, SearchWP, FacetWP and plenty of custom configuration, snippets, plugins and application logic accumulated over years of development. In other words, it has enough moving parts to make a hosting migration interesting in all the wrong ways.

There were some small issues during the move, which isn’t particularly surprising with an installation of this size and complexity, but the FlyingHost team helped resolve them. Roughly two days later, I had seen enough. I moved the installation into production and retired the VPS that had previously been handling all three websites. That’s probably the strongest endorsement I can give because switching production infrastructure is something I take far more seriously than running another benchmark.

#### FlyingHost Cockpit Keeps Powerful Hosting Surprisingly Simple

Performance might have grabbed my attention first, but FlyingHost’s Cockpit control panel became another major reason I enjoyed using the service. Hosting dashboards have an impressive ability to become miniature operating systems filled with menus, tabs, hidden settings and features you’ll touch once every three years. Cockpit goes in the opposite direction. It gives you the tools you actually need without turning routine hosting administration into an archaeological expedition.

You can work with WordPress administration, files, databases, logs, staging environments, backups and a browser-based terminal from one interface. Resource monitoring gives useful visibility into how your installation is behaving, while cache and CDN information can help you understand what is happening beyond a basic green or red status indicator. phpMyAdmin is available when you need direct database access, and the web terminal gives more technical users access to WP-CLI and other commands without requiring a separate terminal application for every little job. It feels deliberately restrained, and I mean that as a compliment. Clear, intuitive and without unnecessary nonsense sums it up rather well.

#### Isolated Containers, Redis and a WordPress-Focused Performance Stack

Part of FlyingHost’s appeal becomes clearer when you look underneath Cockpit. Each website runs inside its own isolated container rather than simply sharing one traditional hosting environment with every other installation on the account. FlyingHost also provides dedicated resources, a dedicated database and Redis for each site, helping prevent one busy installation from dragging another one down. The infrastructure itself is designed around WordPress, with high-frequency servers, NVMe storage and a stack where the database, Redis, caching, HTTP/3 and cron configuration are already tuned for WordPress workloads. That’s particularly attractive if you’re used to managing your own VPS.

Yes, building and maintaining your own server can be enjoyable, especially if you’re the type of person who considers editing Nginx configuration files a relaxing evening activity. The problem is that every hour spent maintaining infrastructure is an hour you’re not spending on the website itself. FlyingHost gave me much of what I wanted from my own custom environment while removing a meaningful amount of that maintenance burden.

##### FlyingPress, Cloudflare Enterprise and Patchstack Add Serious Value

The surrounding services are another reason the package makes sense to me. FlyingPress is included with FlyingHost plans at no additional cost, which removes a separate expense if you were already planning to use it. The hosting platform also includes Cloudflare Enterprise as its CDN and edge security layer, while Patchstack adds WordPress-specific vulnerability protection and virtual patching for vulnerable plugins, themes and WordPress itself. Virtual patching is especially useful when a vulnerability becomes known but the affected developer hasn’t released a proper fix yet.

It doesn’t magically eliminate the need to update WordPress software, but it gives you another defensive layer during that uncomfortable period between a vulnerability being discovered and a permanent fix becoming available. FlyingPress has also gained Redis object caching support and recognizes FlyingHost environments, making the integration between the optimization plugin and hosting platform increasingly natural. Instead of assembling five separate services and hoping they cooperate nicely, you’re getting a stack developed around the same performance philosophy.

##### Pricing Makes FlyingHost Even More Difficult to Ignore

One of the big unanswered questions during my earliest testing was pricing. That’s rather important because fantastic hosting doesn’t help much when the monthly invoice requires selling a kidney. FlyingHost’s current plans start with Core at $29 per month for one website, including 8 PHP workers, 4GB of RAM and 10GB of NVMe storage. Growth is $49 per month with 18 PHP workers, 6GB of RAM and 30GB of storage. Pro costs $99 per month with 24 workers, 12GB of RAM and 75GB, while Scale reaches $199 per month with 36 workers, 20GB of RAM and 150GB of NVMe storage. FlyingPress, Cloudflare Enterprise and Patchstack are included across those plans.

Each site also receives 100GB of CDN bandwidth, with additional bandwidth currently priced separately. The pricing model is per website, which won’t suit absolutely everyone, especially if you’re looking for cheap hosting for dozens of tiny installations. For demanding websites where backend speed, dynamic requests, isolation and predictable resources matter, however, the value proposition becomes much more convincing.

##### What Daily WordPress Management Feels Like on FlyingHost

Raw benchmark numbers are useful, but they’re rarely the part of hosting performance you remember six months later. What you remember is whether saving a WooCommerce product makes you stare at a spinner, whether opening Elementor gives you time to reconsider your career choices and whether wp-admin feels responsive when you’re trying to get actual work done. That’s where FlyingHost impressed me most. The WordPress backend simply feels quick. Dynamic actions are exactly where many hosting environments reveal their limitations because they can’t hide behind a fully cached front end. WooCommerce administration, searches, account actions, checkout requests and admin operations still need PHP workers and database resources.

FlyingHost clearly treats those workloads as first-class citizens rather than concentrating purely on making cached front-end pages look spectacular in synthetic tests. That matters enormously to agencies, store owners, developers and anyone spending several hours a day inside WordPress. A few hundred milliseconds saved repeatedly throughout a working day isn’t merely a benchmark victory. It changes how pleasant the website is to manage.

##### Why FlyingHost Could Replace More Traditional WordPress VPS Setups

After showing FlyingHost internally at the agency where I work, the reaction was remarkably similar to my own. Once the service and pricing became clearer, the question wasn’t whether it was interesting. The question became whether some of our existing higher-end hosting and custom VPS configurations still made sense. That doesn’t mean a managed WordPress platform replaces every VPS imaginable.

There will always be projects requiring unusual software, unrestricted root access or infrastructure that extends far beyond WordPress. For the installations that actually are WordPress websites, however, managing an entire server can quickly become a means rather than an end. FlyingHost handles much of the underlying work while still giving technical users access to tools such as SSH, SFTP, phpMyAdmin and a browser terminal. Multiple PHP versions are available per installation as well, which matters when an older plugin, theme or custom application isn’t quite ready for the newest PHP release. It strikes a sensible balance between managed hosting and the flexibility developers expect.

##### My Personal Conclusion

I haven’t been this impressed by WordPress backend performance in quite some time. My experience started with two small websites, escalated into WooCommerce and Elementor stress testing and ended with me trusting [FlyingHost](https://flyinghost.com/) enough to move a 70GB production installation with a 12GB database away from my own VPS. That progression says more about my opinion than any marketing slogan could. Everyone’s results will vary because WordPress performance depends on plugins, themes, database design, traffic patterns, external services and countless other variables.

My measurements should therefore be treated as my measurements, not guaranteed numbers. Even with that qualification, FlyingHost has earned a permanent place atop of my shortlist of WordPress hosting providers. The combination of fast dynamic performance, isolated containers, dedicated resources, Redis, [FlyingPress](https://flyingpress.com/), Cloudflare Enterprise, [Patchstack](https://patchstack.com/) and the refreshingly simple Cockpit interface makes it feel like a platform built by people who actually understand the frustrations of running demanding WordPress websites.
