As already briefly announced through several of my socials this time a less profound item. An explanation about tools I personally use to do a quick analysis without going into much detail. But also how I score in comparison with others.
A look in my kitchen
Provided it is a very small peek in my personal kitchen. There is of course much more to do if you really want to optimize on page level or even site-wide level. But this is more an item with the approach; everyone can use this and then take steps with it.
Tools for swift analyses
There are hundreds, maybe thousands. But now I only focus on the ones that I use and briefly why.
I always use at least 2 tools when it comes to a certain area. Simply because you should never put all your trust in just one tool. Because who knows, that tool may not work well at all. This is how you do a simple second opinion.
SEO
Well SEO is important let’s be honest. Without you doing well, the chance of success on the web is a lot trickier.
SEObility
SEObility is one of the few SEO analysis tools that is really free for use and that can really help you optimize. But also on both page and site-wide level.

SEO SiteCheckup
SEO SiteCheckup is a tool that, like SEObility, is free to use, but has a small detail. You can only use it once a day without an account. You can work around that creatively with a VPN. The tool is also clear and well-organized, like SEObility.

Pageload
Good SEO is one thing, but your pages should also come out well. That is where the aspect WSO (Web Site Optimization) looks at a lot more. And Pageload is crucial. Nobody likes a slow website, but how well does your website perform?
Pingdom
The big advantage of Pingdom is that you can test with multiple servers all over the world to get a picture of how that site loads your website.

GTMetrix
Even though GTMetrix is limited to a server in Canada if you use it for free without an account. It’s about the big line and he can make it clear with his YSlow and Pagespeed score.

Google does not have a monopoly when it comes to the search engine market. But it’s very close to that. That’s why it’s good to know how you perform according to their tools.
Google PageSpeed insights
I have never really been a fan of this tool. It’s is too limited for what it claims it does. It measures in two fixed formats, and looks very rough at the url you enter. It is therefore not a must to score great in here but bad scoring does not really have to happen.

Google Structured Data Testing Tool
This tool makes me happy again, it will check if your syntax for structured data is in order according to Google. The tool is clear if you have done things well or not.

Results
Now that you know a little bit about what tools we are going to use and what they do, I will show you how different projects of mine are doing in them. I will compare that to a number of large websites … simply to show what I am adding to it.

I think if you have looked at the results you can say that it does not look bad at all. Is there room for improvement. Of course! But that is always there, technology never stands still … so neither do we.
Now let’s compare that with some big websites like Nu.nl, Tweakers.net. Partyflock.nl to give an example.
Nu.nl

As you can see, they differ on quite a few levels, while my results are a lot more consistent.
In closing
I would absolutely recommend you to take a look at how your own websites or those of the company you work for do in these tests. If I can be of any service I would obviously like to hear it!
In a follow-up item I will discuss some other tools (also paid ones) that I use to get even more insight or take other actions. Stay tuned!
